Enclosed Porches and Sunrooms Print E-mail

ImageWith an enclosed porch, you have the best of both worlds-enjoying your garden as you sit in the comfort of your home. Enclosed porches are helpful because of the fact that when there is bad weather, you would still be able to appreciate your garden, and you can store some plants in it as well.

If you are thinking about adding a porch or sunroom to your home to enjoy with your friends and loved ones (or your morning newspaper) you would be wise to first consider the basic options—the open porch, the screened-in porch, the enclosed porch, or the sunroom. You can do it yourself or an architect will not only be able to help you figure out the best way to work with the porch space, but will also be able to make suggestions about improving the front of the house.

If, on the other hand, you plan on building a sunroom or an enclosed porch that you will heat year-round, the floor will need a solid foundation like concrete, which can later be topped with hardwood flooring, tile, etc. The specific costs will vary when it comes to the sizes of the porch additions, but since there are more materials involved in the enclosed porch, this will typically raise the overall cost of the porch.

Aesthetic appeal
Whether a person is looking to improve the front area or the back area of their home, a porch is a great way to increase the aesthetic appeal of a home and yard at a reasonable cost, whether the owners are building new porch additions or renovating an old porch addition. Budgeting is important in order to make sure that the individuals involved are able to pay for the cost of the building, but it is also necessary that the individual is able to continue to afford their current cost of living.

The decorating ideas you come up with for your enclosed porch are limited only by your imagination and perhaps a bit by the overall theme of your home. An enclosed porch with wicker furniture, wooden floor, and swing.  If your living room or recreation room has sliders that open onto the porch, you have just created a large entertainment area that allows guests to wonder back and forth.  Porches are great areas for sitting and friendly conversation and in most cases these are the main activities that will take place here.

Look up enclosed porch on the internet and look at the images that you find. You would be surprised to see how beautiful they can be these days. Also remember that when you enclose a porch you are also upping the value of your property if you choose to sell it in the future. In neighborhoods where the houses are pretty much the same, yours will stand out if you have an enclosed porch to offer a potential buyer.
